Nikšić schools shorten classes due to water restrictions

Schools in the suburban settlements of Nikšić have shortened their class hours due to multi-hour water supply interruptions. The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation stated that the restrictions currently affect suburban areas with outages lasting eight hours at a time.

The water supply restrictions were originally introduced on August 25 due to an unfavorable hydrological situation and significantly reduced source yields. In early September, the restrictive regime was tightened, with outages alternating between two groups of suburban settlements every eight hours.

The Nikšić Waterworks indicated that the duration of these restrictions depends on meteorological and hydrological conditions, specifically rainfall and improved water inflow. The Ministry noted that water shortages pose challenges for maintaining hygiene and school facility operations, necessitating the adjusted teaching schedules.
