IHSG rises 1.01 percent amid global monetary uncertainty

The Indonesia Composite Index (IHSG) experienced significant volatility in early September 2026. On Tuesday, September 8, the index closed with a notable gain of 1.01 percent, reaching the 6,686 level. This upward movement was supported by broad sectoral gains, particularly in raw materials, and a net foreign buy of approximately Rp398.12 billion. Major banking stocks such as PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BBRI) were primary drivers of this growth.

However, market analysts remain cautious due to global economic signals. Stronger-than-expected U.S. employment data has increased the likelihood of the Federal Reserve maintaining tight monetary policies or raising interest rates. Investors are also monitoring upcoming U.S. inflation data (CPI) and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

In corporate news, PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) maintained its idAAA rating from Pefindo with a stable outlook. The company reported solid performance in the first half of 2026, with net profit increasing significantly due to business transformation and operational efficiency. Meanwhile, Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves rose to USD 146.5 billion in August, the highest level since March 2026.
