Niklas Landin recalls Kasper Hvidt’s support during early career

Handball goalkeeper Niklas Landin has shared recollections of his early years with the Danish national team in the podcast ‘På Bænken’. Landin described feeling significant nervousness when interacting with established veterans on the squad.

He specifically highlighted the support he received from veteran goalkeeper Kasper Hvidt during Landin’s first major tournament. When expert Bent Nyegaard criticized Landin and suggested the team replace him with a more experienced keeper, Hvidt reportedly took the criticism personally. Landin recalls that Hvidt suggested teammates should turn their backs and walk away if the expert addressed them, a more aggressive stance than the subdued approach suggested by other senior players. Landin noted that this moment left a lasting impression, making him feel truly supported by a player he deeply respected.
