Nikol Pashinyan confronted with legal complaint over 2020 war deaths and opposition criticism

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is facing a criminal complaint filed by the parents of soldiers killed in the 2020 Nagorno‑Karabakh war. The families of the deceased, represented by the “Call of the Children” NGO, submitted a report to the chief prosecutor demanding an investigation and a possible parliamentary interrogation of Pashinyan, alleging a “deliberate killing” during the conflict.

Separately, opposition figure Ruzan Stepanyan publicly accused Pashinyan of abusing power by targeting former politician Gagik Tsarukyan, claiming the prime minister repeatedly used the courts to suppress political rivals. She argued that the legal actions against Tsarukyan were politically motivated and reflected broader concerns over judicial independence under Pashinyan’s administration.
