Nikola Tsolov clinches victory at Austrian Formula 2 Grand Prix

Bulgarian driver Nikola Tsolov won the feature race of the Formula 2 Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, securing his fourth win of the 2026 season and his third in a main race. Starting from third on the grid, he overtook Alex Dunne and teammate Noel Leon, managed tyre wear in hot conditions and recovered from a brief front‑wing damage to finish two seconds ahead of championship leader Gabriele Mini, with Oliver Götte third. The win lifted Tsolov to 106 points, just two behind Mini in the drivers’ standings.

Earlier in the weekend, Tsolov finished ninth in the sprint race after an early contact incident with Joshua Dürksen that triggered a yellow‑flag restart. A post‑race five‑second penalty to Rafael Camara promoted Tsolov into the points, giving him his first sprint‑race point. In qualifying he posted the second‑fastest lap (1:16.298), positioning him well for the Sunday race. His performance was described by the driver as “incredible” and highlighted his tyre‑management strategy as key to the victory.
