Nikos Androulakis demands clarity on Achilles Shield source code access

Nikos Androulakis, leader of PASOK, has called on Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to clarify whether Greece will have full access to the source code of the Achilles Shield air defense system. The issue centers on the Command & Control component, which integrates radars, sensors, and weaponry.

Androulakis raised these questions during a meeting in Thessaloniki, questioning if the country is effectively in a state of dependency. He noted a potential discrepancy between government assurances and recent statements from an Israeli official. Specifically, Moshe Patel, director of Israel's Missile Defense Organization, indicated in an interview that the source code was not included in the licensing agreement for the system.

This contradicts previous statements by Defense Minister Nikos Dendias, who had asserted that the Greek Armed Forces would not acquire such systems without source code access to ensure the ability to intervene in the system's architecture and evolution. Androulakis emphasized that while PASOK supports national defense strengthening, transparency regarding technological sovereignty is essential.
