Nilüfer Kite Festival fills the sky with colorful kites

The Nilüfer Kite Festival, organized by Nilüfer Municipality and the Nilüfer City Council, took place at the historic Zambaktepe area in Gölyazı. Hundreds of children and their families gathered to fly kites they made in on‑site workshops where municipal staff provided more than 500 kits and hands‑on instruction.

Municipal officials, including Deputy Mayor Mustafa Aslan and Deputies Okan Şahin and Emre Karagöz, addressed attendees, emphasizing themes of freedom, hope and community spirit. A jury evaluated the kites on visual appeal, performance and craftsmanship, awarding medals and small gifts to the twenty best entries.

The event, part of the Nilüfer International Sports Festivities, highlighted local cultural heritage and encouraged participation from the Children’s Parliament of the City Council.
