Greek police arrest 13 in Western Macedonia drug crackdown
Over a period in late July and early August 2026, Greek police in the Western Macedonia region carried out targeted drug investigations, resulting in the arrest of 13 people for possession of cannabis and related substances.
The first operation, conducted by the General Regional Police Directorate of Western Macedonia, led to four arrests in Kozani, Grevena and Kastoria, with seizures including 7.6 g of raw cannabis, 8.39 g, 4 g, several pill tablets and a grinder.
A separate sweep in Kastoria, aided by a trained detection dog, resulted in nine arrests – six men and three women aged 19‑32 – and the confiscation of 16.2 g of raw cannabis, five pill tablets, four hand‑rolled cannabis cigarettes and a grinder.
Legal proceedings have been opened against all detainees for violations of Greece’s narcotics law, and the case files have been sent to the relevant public prosecutor’s offices.
