Nintendo and Monolith Soft announce Xenoblade Chronicles 3 for Switch 2

Nintendo and Monolith Soft have announced that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will launch on December 3, 2026. The upcoming release for the successor to the Nintendo Switch features significant technical upgrades and new gameplay content.

Technically, the new edition will support 4K resolution in TV mode and 1080p in handheld mode, running at 60 frames per second. Content updates include the introduction of a new heroine named Shimmer, who features a unique 'Foresight' combat mechanic, and a dedicated Hero Quest. Additionally, a new 'Heroes’ Vault' mode will be added, offering defensive combat challenges against waves of enemies.

Existing owners of the original Nintendo Switch version can access these enhancements through an Upgrade Pack rather than being required to purchase the full game again. The release aims to serve as a major title for the launch of the new hardware.
