Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Direct details gameplay, four heroes and Sep 17 Switch 2 launch
Nintendo held a 20‑minute Direct focused on the upcoming tactical RPG Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, an exclusive title for Nintendo Switch 2 slated for release on 17 September 2026. The game is set in the Dagdan Empire, with its capital Dagsion hosting the Heroic Games – a gladiatorial tournament whose winner is granted a wish by the ruler Solel.
The story takes place five years after the tournament when the resurrected demon god Balor threatens the world. The goddess Sothis tasks the player, a nameless hero in white, with altering history via the goddess Fortuna’s time‑travel powers. Players can choose among four protagonists – Cai, Dietrich, Theodora and Leda – each with separate progress that can be switched at any time.
Gameplay features turn‑based combat on a grid, a class system split into Beginner, Specialty and Advanced tiers, and unique mechanics such as Combat Arts, Blaze Arts and “Fortune’s Blessing,” which lets players rewind a battle to a previous turn. Between matches, players explore Dagsion, train, recruit allies, complete quests, and can venture beyond the city for dungeons and certification exams. Pre‑orders are live, and a special Dagdan Collection with art book and map is available.
