Nintendo Switch 2 sees strong sales and major software updates

Nintendo's new hardware, the Switch 2, is seeing significant market activity and software developments. In Japan, the console has reached over 6.29 million units sold, according to Famitsu estimates. Major software releases include the tactical RPG Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, which debuted in second place on the UK software charts, and the highly anticipated remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which is available for pre-order on Amazon alongside a special 40th-anniversary console bundle.

Nintendo is actively improving backward compatibility for the Switch 2. A recent system update has resolved technical issues for numerous original Switch titles, such as Attack on Titan 2 and Terraformers, while introducing Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support in docked mode. However, some titles like Rain World and Slay the Princess still face progress-related bugs. Additionally, users have noted significant battery consumption variations across different high-fidelity titles on the new handheld hardware.
