Nio hits 10,000 ES9 deliveries, boosting SUV sales momentum

Nio announced that it delivered its 10,000th ES9 flagship electric SUV, marking a rapid sales pace that saw the model reach the milestone in just over a month since deliveries began. The 10,000th buyer, Li Ningchuan of Zhejiang EV‑Tech, received the vehicle at a ceremony attended by founder, chairman and CEO William Li. The ES9, priced from 498,000 yuan (about $73,000) and offered with a battery‑as‑a‑service option, has a sizable backlog of over 25,000 non‑cancellable orders, with delivery waits of up to 16‑17 weeks for the top‑spec version.

Overall, Nio’s vehicle deliveries are up 68.7% year‑over‑year, driven by strong demand for its larger SUVs, including the ES8 which has been delivering over 10,000 units per month. The surge in deliveries is expected to lift margins and support the company’s guidance for the second quarter, with analysts projecting non‑GAAP profit around 180 million yuan. The company plans to open pre‑orders for a five‑seat ES8 variant later this month, further expanding its lineup.
