Nio EV growth and delivery milestones

Entities: NIO Inc. · U.S. Department of Defense · ES8 · ES9 · AutoNation Inc.

Overview

By mid‑July 2026 Nio’s order book reached roughly 294,000 vehicles, with weekly totals of 86,183 in May, 78,636 in June and about 18,000 in the first half of July. The surge led Goldman Sachs to upgrade the stock to a Buy with a $7 price target, and the share price rose modestly.

Milestones in July included the Firefly brand’s 70,000th delivery (16 July), Onvo’s 60,000th L90 SUV (19 July) and the third‑generation ES8’s 130,000th unit (22 July). Together with Firefly and Onvo, Nio delivered over 150,000 cars in Shanghai, capturing more than 60 % of the large‑SUV market and remaining the city’s top passenger‑car brand.

Analyst upgrades on 29 July followed Nio’s 18.2 million‑share investment in CXMT, which generated over $100 million in paper gains. The company reported July deliveries of 35,934 vehicles—a 71 % year‑on‑year rise—bringing year‑to‑date deliveries to 227,057 and cumulative deliveries past 1.22 million.

New developments expanded the lineup: in late May Nio launched the flagship ES9 luxury SUV in China (starting at ¥390,000) and announced plans for Europe, emphasizing its Battery‑as‑a‑Service model. In mid‑June the Champion Edition of the 2026 ET5, ET5 Touring and EC6 was introduced with racing‑green styling, 100‑kWh batteries and BaaS pricing.

Late June saw the 10,000th ES9 delivered within a month, pushing cumulative sales over 1.1 million and ES8 deliveries past 120,000. Nio’s battery‑swap network grew to 9,000 stations, and total deliveries reached 1.148 million with a 68.7 % YoY increase.

In early August Nio highlighted that the five‑seat ES8 accounted for 51 % of Nio‑brand deliveries in July, that raw‑material price pressure added roughly ¥20,000 per ES8, and that the firm is engaging the U.S. Defense Department after being placed on its Chinese‑linked companies list. Shares rose 2.9 % to $4.94.
