Nissa Rugby faces financial regulator hearing, Pro D2 promotion in doubt

Nissa Rugby, fresh off its promotion to France's Pro D2 rugby league, has been summoned by the Autorité de Régulation du Rugby (A2R), the LNR's financial watchdog, to present guarantees of financial stability. The club's presidents Jean‑Baptiste Aldigé and Patrice Prévot recently resigned amid a dispute with the Nice municipality over funding for the renovation of the Marcel‑Volot stadium. The city has pledged roughly €500,000 to help meet the league's requirements, but the stalled works and the lack of new tribunes remain a concern.

If the A2R denies Nissa Rugby the right to compete, the Stade Montois (Mont‑de‑Marsan) would be the first candidate for a repêchage, potentially returning to the division. A hearing is scheduled for Friday, where the club must convince the regulator that it can satisfy the financial obligations needed for the upcoming season.
