Nissa Rugby faces leadership crisis after two presidents resign

On 17 July, the presidents of Nissa Rugby—club president Jean‑Baptiste Aldigé and association president Patrice Prévot—announced their resignations at the club’s general assembly, just weeks after the team’s historic promotion to the Pro D2 division.

The unexpected departures surprised the squad. Captain Thibaud Rey told reporters, “We were surprised by the announcement, but we remain focused on the project built by Jean‑Baptiste Aldigé.” He added that the players are staying concentrated on their sporting objectives despite the uncertainty.

The municipality of Nice, represented by Mayor Éric Ciotti, said the city will deploy all means at its disposal to enable Nissa Rugby to compete in Pro D2 for the 2026‑27 season and to address lingering issues with the Marcel‑Volot stadium renovation, which has stalled since a change in the city council majority.
