Nissan and Chery launch new electric and hybrid models in Philippines and Nepal

Automotive manufacturers are expanding their electric and hybrid vehicle offerings in Southeast and South Asian markets.

Nissan Philippines Inc. is scheduled to officially launch the 2026 Nissan Kicks e-POWER on August 28 at the Glorietta Palm Drive Activity Center. The model utilizes an e-POWER system where a 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine acts as a generator to charge a small lithium-ion battery, which then powers an electric motor to drive the wheels. The updated model features a redesigned cabin, improved noise reduction, a new infotainment screen with wireless smartphone connectivity, and ProPILOT advanced driver assistance systems.

In Nepal, Chery Nepal has introduced the Chery Q EV, a compact electric crossover, at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026. The vehicle is available in two variants: the Comfort model priced at Rs 34.39 lakh and the Premium model at Rs 35.99 lakh. The Q EV is equipped with a 41.2 kWh LFP battery and a 90 kW motor, providing an estimated range of up to 400 km (NEDC). It supports DC fast-charging, capable of moving from 30% to 80% capacity in 16.5 minutes.
