Automotive manufacturers are expanding their electric and hybrid vehicle offerings in Southeast and South Asian markets.

In the Philippines, Nissan Philippines Inc. officially launched the facelifted 2026 Nissan Kicks e-POWER on August 28. The electrified subcompact SUV utilizes e-POWER technology, where a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine acts as a generator to charge a battery that powers a 136ps electric motor. The updated model features new LED headlights, a redesigned front bumper, and 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels. Interior upgrades include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a new digital instrument cluster, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and Zero Gravity seats with anti-heat technology. The vehicle also incorporates Nissan Connect Services and ProPILOT driver assistance systems.

In Nepal, Chery Nepal introduced the Chery Q EV, a compact electric crossover, at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026. The vehicle is offered in Comfort and Premium variants, priced at Rs 34.39 lakh and Rs 35.99 lakh respectively. The Q EV features a 41.2 kWh LFP battery and a 90 kW motor with an estimated range of up to 400 km (NEDC). It supports DC fast-charging, capable of increasing capacity from 30% to 80% in 16.5 minutes.
