Nissan Elgrand premium minivan sees strong sales in Japan

The new Nissan Elgrand, a premium minivan that underwent a full model change after 16 years, has surpassed 9,000 units in sales in Japan since its July release. The vehicle features the third-generation e-POWER hybrid system and e-4ORCE electric four-wheel control.

Owners and reviewers have highlighted the advanced second-row features, including dual reclining seats with memory functions for both seat position and ottomans. While some have criticized the movable armrests, users note they improve walk-through access to the third row and allow for more flexible seating positions.

Nissan claims the vehicle offers fatigue-recovery benefits when using the ProPilot 2.0 hands-off driving technology. According to Nissan's data, using hands-off mode can reduce upper body muscle activity by approximately 60% compared to manual driving, potentially helping to reduce stress and fatigue during long trips.

Sales data indicates a preference for high-end trims, with the G e-4ORCE accounting for 57% of sales. Many customers are opting for extensive option packages, with some total vehicle costs exceeding 10 million yen.
