Nissan launches second‑gen Kicks hybrid SUV in Japan with e‑Power and e‑4ORCE

Nissan unveiled the second‑generation Kicks hybrid SUV in Japan on 21 June 2026. The model uses the third‑generation e‑Power system, where a 1.4 L three‑cylinder gasoline engine acts solely as a generator for a front electric motor delivering 143 hp and 315 Nm. A new e‑4ORCE variant adds a rear electric motor (68 hp, 140 Nm) for electric all‑wheel drive, improving traction on low‑grip surfaces. Fuel consumption is quoted at 3.9 L/100 km (≈25.7 km/L) for the front‑wheel version and up to 28.7 km/L in Japanese WLTC testing for the previous generation. Prices range from ¥2.999 million to ¥4.248 million (≈ $20‑$30 k). Production will move from Nissan’s Tsukuri plant to Nissan Motor Kyushu after 2027. Nissan is also assessing the model for the Australian market, where a local launch is being considered. The new Kicks replaces the 2020‑2025 e‑Power version that was built in Thailand and sold globally, including Brazil where a different powertrain is used.
