Nissan launches Tekton SUV in India with 5‑star safety rating

Nissan Motor India officially launched the Tekton midsize SUV in July 2026. The model is offered in twelve variants from an ex‑showroom price of ₹10.49 lakh up to ₹18.59 lakh. Two turbo‑petrol engines are available – a 1.0‑litre unit (100 hp, 166 Nm) paired with a 6‑speed manual, and a 1.3‑litre unit (163 hp, 280 Nm) offered with a 6‑speed manual or a 6‑speed DCT. All variants are front‑wheel drive and built on the Renault‑Duster CMF‑B platform at the Renault‑Nissan plant in Chennai, with the vehicle also slated for export to more than 50 markets in the Middle East and Africa.

The Tekton’s design is inspired by Nissan’s flagship Patrol, earning it the nickname “Baby Patrol”. It features a large grille, LED headlamps, 18‑inch alloys and a 212 mm ground clearance. Inside, the SUV includes a 10.1‑inch touchscreen with Google built‑in, a 10.25‑inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charging and a suite of connected‑car services. Safety equipment comprises six airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, hill‑start assist, tyre‑pressure monitoring and Level‑2 ADAS on higher trims. The model earned a 5‑star Bharat NCAP rating, scoring 30.49/32 for adult protection and 45/49 for child protection.

Bookings began with a ₹21,000 token, and deliveries are scheduled to start on 20 July 2026. The Tekton will compete directly with established midsize SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster and others.
