Nissan 2026-27 model launches
Entities: CMF‑B platform · Gujarat · Nissan Tekton · India · Nissan Motor Co.
Overview
Nissan’s Tekton midsize SUV debuted in India on 9 July 2026 as the “Baby Patrol”, built on the CMF‑B platform shared with the upcoming Renault Duster and manufactured at the Chennai plant for domestic sales and export to about 50 markets in the Middle East and Africa. The model is offered in six trim levels, priced from ₹10.49 lakh to ₹18.59 lakh (ex‑showroom), and powered by either a 1.0‑L three‑cylinder (100 hp, 166 Nm) or a 1.3‑L four‑cylinder (163 hp, 280 Nm) turbo‑petrol engine, both mated to six‑speed manual or DCT gearboxes. Standard safety includes six airbags, ESC, ABS‑EBD, hill‑start assist and tyre‑pressure monitoring; higher trims add Level‑2 ADAS such as autonomous emergency braking, lane‑keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind‑spot monitoring and a 360° camera. The Tekton earned a full 5‑star Bharat NCAP rating.
First deliveries, originally slated for 20 July, began in late July 2026, with Nissan India confirming that cars are now reaching customers. Early feedback highlights the SUV’s robust performance, red horizontal front grille, 18‑inch alloy wheels and upgraded digital instrument cluster. The launch also featured a three‑day, 700 km media drive from Chandigarh to Leh. Bulgarian media noted the vehicle’s visual similarity to the Duster and reiterated that the Tekton will not be sold in Europe.
Separately, Nissan tested a right‑hand‑drive prototype of the 2027 Frontier Pro plug‑in‑hybrid ute in Melbourne, showcasing design cues from the Patrol and a dual‑screen cockpit.
