Nissan launches Tekton SUV in India after 700‑km Himalayan test

Nissan Motor India introduced the Tekton SUV, a rebadged Renault Duster built on the same platform but differentiated with a new front fascia, C‑shaped LED tail lights and a fresh interior colour scheme. The model is offered in two trims: a base Visia with a 1.0‑litre turbocharged engine and six‑speed manual priced at Rs 10.49 lakh (ex‑showroom), and a top‑spec Tekna+ with a 1.3‑litre turbo and six‑speed dual‑clutch automatic at Rs 18.59 lakh (ex‑showroom).

To demonstrate confidence in the vehicle, Nissan organised a three‑day media drive covering 700 km from Chandigarh to Leh across some of the toughest Himalayan terrain. Reviewers reported that the extended test revealed the Tekton’s strengths – solid performance, appealing design details such as the red horizontal front element and 18‑inch alloy wheels, and a simplified white‑on‑black digital instrument cluster – while noting few criticisms. Overall, the SUV received largely positive feedback, with reviewers highlighting its premium‑looking interior options and the distinct styling that sets it apart from its Duster counterpart.
