Nissan revives Pixo nameplate as affordable electric city car

Nissan is reviving the Pixo nameplate as an all-electric hatchback designed for budget-conscious city drivers in Europe. The new Pixo EV is expected to start below €20,000 ($22,700) before subsidies, making it Nissan’s most affordable electric vehicle in the region.

Developed through a partnership with Renault, the vehicle shares its foundation with the Renault Twingo and will be manufactured at Renault’s Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia. It features a 27.5-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, providing a WLTP-rated range of up to 161 miles. The model includes modern technology such as automatic emergency braking, lane-support technology, and Google built-in integration.

This launch aims to address the rising competition from Chinese automakers like BYD and Leapmotor in the European market. While the Pixo EV is tailored for European urban environments, it is not expected to be available to consumers in the United States.
