Nissan and Dacia electric vehicle model expansions
Overview
Nissan is expanding its electric vehicle lineup through strategic collaborations within the Renault-Nissan Alliance, utilizing shared platforms for new models. In early September 2026, Nissan announced the return of the ‘Pixo’ name for an affordable, all-electric A-segment city car. Developed using the Renault AmpR Small platform—which is shared with the Renault Twingo E-Tech and Dacia Spring—the Pixo is intended for the European and British markets and is expected to be produced at the Revoz plant in Novo Mesto, Slovenia.
Following its official unveiling on September 22, 2026, technical details confirmed the Pixo will feature a 27.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery—the first of its kind used in a Nissan model in Europe—providing a WLTP-rated range of up to 259 km (approximately 161 miles). The vehicle is powered by a 60 kW (82 hp) electric motor and supports 50 kW DC fast charging, which can replenish the battery from 15% to 80% in approximately 28 minutes. It also supports 11 kW AC charging.
Designed for urban environments, the 3.8-meter car includes a 356-liter trunk, which can expand to 1,221 liters with rear seats folded. Recent details highlight the cabin’s digital integration, featuring a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch (or 10.1-inch) infotainment touchscreen running on Android Automotive. The vehicle integrates Google’s Gemini AI for voice-activated navigation and communication. Practical interior features include independent sliding rear seats and physical climate controls. Standard safety technology includes adaptive cruise control with stop & go, lane departure warning, hands-free parking, and One-Pedal technology. Nissan aims to position the Pixo as an accessible entry-level EV to address competition from Chinese automakers, with deliveries expected to begin in early 2027.
