Nissan Tekton SUV launched in India with 5‑star safety rating and export plan

Nissan introduced the Tekton midsize SUV in India, offering a price range of ₹10.49 lakh to ₹18.59 lakh across six trim levels. The model is built on the Renault‑Nissan‑Mitsubishi CMF‑B platform and shares architecture with the Renault Duster. It is powered by two turbo‑petrol engines: a 1.0‑litre three‑cylinder unit producing 100 PS and 166 Nm, and a 1.3‑litre four‑cylinder unit delivering 163 PS and 280 Nm, each available with a six‑speed manual or a six‑speed DCT. Safety equipment includes six airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, hill‑start assist, tyre‑pressure monitoring, and Level‑2 ADAS features such as autonomous emergency braking, lane‑keep assist, adaptive cruise control and blind‑spot monitoring. The Tekton earned a full 5‑star rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests for both adult and child occupants. Production will take place at Nissan’s Chennai plant, with the vehicle intended for the Indian market and for export to roughly 50 countries in the Middle East and Africa, though no launch is planned for Latin America. The SUV’s design draws inspiration from the Nissan Patrol and positions the Tekton against rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Volkswagen Taigun.
