Nissan unveils redesigned Elgrand minivan with e‑Power hybrid system

On 16 July 2026 Nissan introduced the fourth‑generation Elgrand, its first full redesign in 16 years. The new model is equipped with the third‑generation e‑Power series‑hybrid system, in which a 1.5‑litre turbocharged engine acts solely as a generator for the electric motor, delivering a WLTC fuel economy of 16.8 km/L – about a 70 % improvement over the previous version. With a 67‑litre fuel tank the vehicle can theoretically travel more than 1,100 km without refuelling.

The Elgrand is offered with Nissan’s e‑4ORCE all‑wheel‑drive system, six selectable drive modes, an intelligent dynamic suspension and a luxury interior that includes a 14.3‑inch central display, BOSE sound system and “private lounge” seating. Exterior styling draws on traditional Japanese kumiko woodwork, featuring a grid‑like front grille. Prices start at ¥6.9 million (≈US$43 000) for the base e‑4ORCE trim and rise to over ¥8 million for the AUTECH custom line. More than 6,000 advance orders were recorded after reservations opened in May.

Nissan aims to strengthen its position in Japan’s premium minivan segment, which has long been dominated by Toyota’s Alphard and Vellfire models, and plans to add AI‑driven assistance features by fiscal 2027.
