Nissan unveils redesigned Kicks SUV with new e-POWER and e-4ORCE in Japan

Nissan held a launch event on 17 June in Tokyo’s Roppongi district to unveil a full model change of its compact Kicks SUV for the Japanese market. The new model carries the same exterior styling as the 2024 North‑American version but is equipped with the third‑generation e‑POWER hybrid system and the e‑4ORCE electric four‑wheel‑drive technology. The e‑POWER unit integrates motor, generator, inverter, reduction and increase gear into a 5‑in‑1 assembly and pairs with a 1.4‑litre engine dedicated to electricity generation, boosting power, fuel efficiency and cabin quietness. e‑4ORCE adds a Snow mode for improved traction on snowy roads.

Production shifts from Thailand to Japan, with initial assembly at Nissan’s Oppama plant and later transfer to a Kyushu factory, shortening delivery times. Prices start at ¥299 970 for the entry‑level X Simple Package, about ¥8 300 lower than the previous model, with the e‑4ORCE‑equipped 4WD version beginning at ¥334 9500. Interior upgrades include a larger touchscreen, premium materials, BOSE sound options and a “Zero‑Gravity” rear seat. Safety equipment now features ProPilot as standard, an intelligent around‑view monitor and enhanced autonomous braking.

Sales commence across Japan on 18 June, positioning the Kicks as a modern, spacious, and affordable option in the compact SUV segment against rivals such as Toyota’s Corolla Cross and Honda’s Vezel.
