Nitori expands free small appliance recycling to new regions

Nitori has expanded its free small appliance recycling program to include the Tohoku, Koshinetsu, Hokuriku, and Tokai regions, effective September 1. This follows a successful pilot in the Kanto area that saw over 2,800 participants in approximately three months.

The service is available to Nitori Members who have purchased small appliances through Nitori stores or its online shop. Eligible members can bring in unwanted small appliances of the same type and quantity as their purchase for free recycling. Notably, the program includes products from other manufacturers, provided the user presents a receipt, invoice, or membership card.

Target items include microwave ovens, rice cookers, vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, fans, air purifiers, earphones, monitors, and lighting equipment. Collected items are either reused or recycled into resources by material. However, the program excludes large appliances such as air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators, and washing machines, as well as items like mobile batteries, light bulbs, and watches. Customers must bring the items to the store themselves, as collection is not provided at the time of delivery.
