Nitra hate crime investigation: suspect faces detention

An investigation into a hate crime targeting Indian citizens in Nitra has seen a significant development. Following interrogations, police released three suspects, but investigators have requested detention for a fourth suspect.

The fourth suspect, a 17-year-old, faces expanded charges. In addition to bodily harm motivated by racial or national hatred and rioting, he is accused of expressing sympathy for a movement aimed at suppressing fundamental rights and freedoms. Reports indicate the teenager used paving stones to create a swastika in front of a shopping center during the incident on August 1, 2026.

Police continue to work intensely on the case, and a decision regarding the suspect's detention is expected in the coming days.
