NLB to acquire majority stake in Deželna banka Slovenije

NLB is expanding its presence in the Slovenian banking market through the acquisition of Deželna banka Slovenije (DBS). Following a recent purchase of a 25.66% stake from Prva Group and associated parties, NLB has now signed an agreement with KD Group to purchase an additional 29.38% of DBS shares.

These transactions will grant NLB a majority stake of 55.04% in DBS. The bank intends to maintain the DBS branch network, particularly in locations where NLB currently lacks a physical presence. NLB's interest in DBS is driven by the bank's strong presence in the agricultural sector and its established branch network.

The takeover is expected to be finalized in the second half of next year, pending regulatory approvals from the Bank of Slovenia and competition authorities. Reports suggest the acquisition price for DBS could be approximately 150 million euros, or roughly 36 euros per share.
