NLB Group regional banking expansion

Overview

NLB Group is expanding its regional footprint through rebranding and acquisitions. On September 1, 2026, the group completed the integration of Komercijalna banka in Serbia, which began operating under the name NLB Banka. This transition concludes the use of the Komercijalna banka brand, following NLB Group’s 2020 acquisition of an 83.23% stake.

Subsequently, NLB moved to expand its presence in the Slovenian market by acquiring a majority stake in Deželna banka Slovenije (DBS). After previously purchasing a 25.66% stake, NLB signed an agreement with KD Group to acquire an additional 29.38% of DBS shares, bringing its total ownership to 55.04%. The acquisition, which aims to leverage DBS’s agricultural sector presence and branch network, is expected to be finalized in the second half of next year, subject to regulatory approval.
