Nobres sanitation impasse addressed by Mato Grosso Court of Accounts

The President of the Mato Grosso Court of Accounts (TCE-MT), Sérgio Ricardo, convened a technical meeting involving the mayor, city councilors, and representatives from the Empresa de Saneamento de Nobres (ESAN) to address a long-standing impasse regarding water and sewage services in Nobres.

The discussion centers on Concession Contract No. 1/1998, which has been in effect for over 27 years. The municipal government has proposed extending the contract to ensure economic-financial rebalancing and facilitate new investments. However, some city councilors oppose this, advocating instead for the termination of the concession and a new bidding process.

It was determined that no contract changes will be formalized until technical studies are completed. The process is being conducted by the Permanent Commission of Norms, Jurisprudence, and Consensualism (CPNJur) and involves the Public Ministry of the State of Mato Grosso (MPMT).
