NOFIA S.A. exits provisional administration with new leadership and recapitalization
The Cameroonian microfinance institution NOFIA S.A. has transitioned out of provisional administration, marking a significant phase in its restructuring process. Following the end of the administration period on September 11, 2026, the company has established a new leadership structure: Clément Kemayou has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors, while Bogni Ngueya, the former provisional administrator, has been named Director General.
A major component of this recovery is a substantial recapitalization. The institution's share capital increased from 1.2 billion FCFA to 8.2 billion FCFA, a 7 billion FCFA boost validated by the Commission Bancaire de l'Afrique Centrale (COBAC). This move led to Cameroon Business and Trade (CBT) S.A. becoming the majority shareholder.
Financial indicators show marked improvement following the restructuring efforts supervised by COBAC. The 30-day risk portfolio (PAR30) dropped from 32.39% to less than 4%, and over 280 million FCFA in debts were recovered. Moving forward, NOFIA aims to become one of the top five microfinance institutions in Cameroon, with long-term goals of transforming into a full-scale bank.
