Noida elevated road develops large sinkhole, causing traffic disruption

A significant section of the Noida elevated road suddenly subsided between Sector-61 and Sector-18, creating a sinkhole approximately 20 feet long and 10 feet deep. While no major accidents or casualties were reported, the incident caused immediate panic and major traffic disruptions on a route used by millions of commuters daily connecting Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Greater Noida West.

Police closed the affected portion of the road to ensure safety, leading to long traffic jams. In response, the Noida Authority's civil and water departments arrived at the site with heavy machinery to begin investigations. Officials are currently examining whether the subsidence was caused by a leak in underground water lines or other structural weaknesses in the soil beneath the road.

The incident has raised serious concerns among local residents regarding the quality of road construction and the oversight of the Noida Authority, especially given the high volume of traffic the elevated road carries.
