Italy social benefits and tax deadlines scheduled for October 2026
In Italy, several administrative and fiscal deadlines are approaching for October 2026. The INPS has scheduled the payment of the Universal Single Allowance (Assegno Unico) for Wednesday, October 21, and Thursday, October 22. For the first seven months of 2026, approximately 11.6 billion euros have been disbursed to over 6.1 million families. A new equivalence scale based on the number of children has been introduced to increase benefits for larger families.
Regarding education sector payments, NoiPA has announced two emission dates for short-term substitute teachers: an urgent emission on October 13 for arrears with an ‘AUTHORIZED PAYMENT’ status, and a special emission on October 16 for school substitutes and firefighters' volunteers.
On the fiscal side, October 16 marks a significant deadline for various taxpayers. This includes the eighth VAT installment for 2025, the fifth installment of 2026 income tax payments for those on installment plans, and various other duties such as the Tobin tax and payments for short-term rentals. Additionally, a potential increase in the income threshold for parental leave benefits is being estimated for 2027, which could depend on the revaluation of minimum pensions.
