Nolan Wells family challenges grand jury decision following autopsy revelations

Following a Mississippi grand jury's decision not to recommend criminal charges in the death of 18-year-old Nolan Wells, his family and civil rights attorney Ben Crump have released new forensic findings that challenge the official narrative.

While the grand jury concluded that the circumstances surrounding Wells' death on Horn Island were consistent with drowning, the state's autopsy report revealed that no fluid or debris was found in his airways, lungs, or stomach. Additionally, the autopsy documented dark red-purple contusions on the back of Wells' head. Attorneys noted that the lack of white blood cells around these injuries suggests they occurred shortly before his death.

Digital forensic experts from Garrett Discovery reported recovering more than 1 million digital artifacts from Wells' cellphone, including Snapchat and Instagram data. The examination identified messages that appeared to have been deleted or unsent. While the grand jury report stated there was no evidence of cellphone tampering, the family's legal team has expressed concerns regarding the missing data and the timeline of Wells' final communications. The family is now calling for a federal investigation and greater transparency regarding the grand jury's investigative materials.
