Nollywood Cultural Heritage Festival honours cultural ambassadors

The 14th edition of the Nollywood Cultural Heritage Festival (NCHF) concluded in Abuja with an award ceremony recognizing individuals for their contributions to preserving Nigerian culture and values. Held from October 22 to 24, 2026, at the Federal Capital Territory Exhibition Pavilion, the event was organized by the NCHF in collaboration with the House Committee on Commerce.

Prominent honorees included broadcaster and gender advocate Dr. Adaora Onyechere Sydney-Jack, who received the traditional title ‘Ada N’ekwuru Oha’ for her work in media and women’s rights advocacy. Other recipients included Professor Munachimso Stella, named ‘Adabuzo’, and Okiemute Mrakpo, who was designated Ambassador of African Culture. Nnena Njoku and Dr. Onyekachi Nwaogu were both recognized as International Ambassadors of African Culture, while Dr. Queen Dillion was conferred the chieftaincy title ‘Ugosimba’.

Festival founder and president Agility Onwurah noted that the initiative has spent 14 years celebrating African heritage. The 2026 edition introduced new elements, such as a fashion runway for African attire, and featured discussions on how legislation can support cultural preservation and economic opportunities.
