Non-citizens plead guilty to illegal voting in 2024 U.S. elections

Two non-citizens have pleaded guilty to unlawfully voting in the 2024 United States General Election.

In Florida, Valery Zidor, a 23-year-old Haitian national, pleaded guilty in federal court to making false claims of U.S. citizenship on two voter registration forms and voting as an alien. Zidor faces up to five years in federal prison. The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida.

In Hawaii, Bernadette Acaso, a 20-year-old Filipino national and lawful permanent resident, pleaded guilty to unlawfully voting as an alien. Acaso admitted to casting a mail-in ballot during the 2024 election despite knowing she was not a U.S. citizen. She faces up to one year in prison, a fine of up to $100,000, and a term of supervised release. The investigation involved the FBI and HSI.
