Nonghyup launches nationwide discount on domestic strategic‑crop processed foods
From May 13 to May 29, Nonghyup (NongHyup Agricultural Cooperative) is running a special discount at all Hanaro Mart stores across South Korea. Shoppers receive a 3,000 KRW reduction for every 10,000 KRW spent on selected products made from domestically grown strategic crops such as rice flour snacks (e.g., rice chips, rice‑pop), rice frying flour, tofu, soy milk, and wheat‑based noodles. The discount is capped at 30,000 KRW per customer, and promotional details may vary by store.
The campaign is part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ “strategic‑crop offline consumer promotion support project,” aimed at reducing consumer costs and promoting the value of Korean‑grown alternative crops like rice, wheat and soybeans. Nonghyup has participated in the ministry’s product‑development support program since 2023 and has launched 19 rice‑flour‑based items to date. Representative Kim Joo‑yang said the discount offers consumers an affordable chance to try strategic‑crop foods and helps expand domestic consumption.
