Mexico security forces seize massive drug shipments and detain cartel members
Mexican federal authorities have conducted a series of major security operations across Sinaloa, Baja California, and Baja California Sur, resulting in significant drug seizures and arrests.
In the mountainous region between Sinaloa and Durango, members of the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR) and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) repelled an ambush by armed civilians in six vehicles. The operation led to the detention of nine individuals allegedly linked to the Sinaloa Cartel and the seizure of an arsenal including 17 long weapons, a machine gun, 127 magazines, and 40 improvised explosive devices.
In Tijuana, the National Customs Agency (ANAM) and the National Guard intercepted a tractor-trailer at the Mesa de Otay international bridge, seizing approximately 1,357 kilograms of methamphetamine and 10 kilograms of fentanyl.
In Baja California Sur, authorities intercepted a van on the La Paz–Los Cabos highway. The vehicle contained approximately three tons of chocolate clams, which are currently under a closed fishing season, as well as 200 suspected fentanyl pills and ammunition. Two individuals were detained in connection with the incident.
