Anambra First Lady denies Peter Obi is godfather to Soludo children

Anambra State First Lady, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has issued a clarification denying claims made by former governor Peter Obi that he and his wife are godparents to the children of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

The dispute arose after a video from the Nigerian Guild of Editors’ Conference in Enugu went viral, in which Obi stated that he and his wife, Margaret, were godparents to the Soludos' children to emphasize that their political differences have not resulted in a personal feud.

In a statement released through her media aide, Daniel Ezeigwe, the First Lady’s office described the claim as false and suggested Obi may have misspoke. The statement clarified the actual nature of the relationship: Dr. Nonye Soludo is the confirmation godmother to Obi’s daughter, while Margaret Obi is the baptismal godmother to one of the Soludos’ daughters.

Despite the disagreement over the godparent designation, the First Lady emphasized that the relationship between the two families remains cordial.
