Journalist Norah O’Donnell is reportedly a frontrunner to return to ‘CBS Mornings’ as a co-anchor. The potential move comes as CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss seeks to revamp the program, possibly adopting a format similar to ‘Morning Joe’.

O’Donnell, who previously anchored the program from 2012 to 2019, has seen a professional resurgence following a period of reduced prominence at the network. She has recently served as a full-time ‘60 Minutes’ correspondent and hosted the podcast ‘Healthful’.

However, reports suggest that current co-host Gayle King is unhappy with the prospect of O’Donnell’s return. Sources describe the relationship between King and O’Donnell as strained, with one source noting that King is a significant part of the selection process and that ‘nothing will happen without her blessing’. Other candidates being considered for the role include Eva Pilgrim, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and Kelly O’Grady.
