Kapuskasing drug bust results in arrests and seizure of fentanyl and cocaine

On July 29, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police’s North East Region Community Street Crime Unit, assisted by the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Drug Enforcement Unit, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Stewart Street in Kapuskasing. Two individuals were arrested without incident. Police seized approximately 15 grams of suspected fentanyl and 31 grams of suspected cocaine, valued at about $10,600 on the street, along with roughly $3,000 in Canadian cash, cellular phones and drug‑trafficking paraphernalia. Vanessa Niemi, 42, of Kapuskasing, was charged with possession of Schedule I substances for the purpose of trafficking both cocaine and fentanyl.
