North Carolina DMV revokes NC Virtual Driver’s Ed license

The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) has revoked the business license of NC Virtual Driver’s Ed, LLC and all associated instructor licenses, effective September 2. The decision follows an investigation that uncovered multiple violations of state laws and administrative rules.

Key findings from the investigation include failures to maintain required staffing and office hours, a lack of sufficient qualified instructors, and the improper counting of non-instructional time toward the mandatory six hours of behind-the-wheel training. Additionally, the company was found to have misrepresented NCDMV refund policies and improperly linked classroom and behind-the-wheel services to restrict customer refunds.

The NCDMV had previously placed the company on probationary status with a corrective action plan, but the business failed to accept the probationary agreement by the August 31 deadline.

While the company can no longer operate as a commercial driver training school, it is legally required to issue completion certificates for services already rendered and provide refunds for services not provided. The NCDMV has directed the company to fulfill these obligations by October 15, 2026. Completion certificates issued by the company must reflect the actual date the coursework was finished.
