A 17-year-old North Carolina girl, Sarah Lindsey Santiago, has been indicted on three counts of murder and one count of conspiracy for her alleged role in the May 18, 2026, shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego. Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O’Neill announced the charges, stating that Santiago is being prosecuted under an aiding-and-abetting theory, which carries the same penalties as direct participation under North Carolina law.

According to the indictment, Santiago coordinated with the attackers—Cain Clark, 17, and Caleb Vazquez, 18—to record a livestream of the massacre, distribute the footage, and publish the gunmen's white-supremacist manifesto. Prosecutors also allege she purchased a white-supremacist symbol patch and sent it to Vazquez to wear during the attack. The two gunmen killed three people, including security guard Amin Abdullah, before committing suicide in a nearby vehicle.

Investigators noted that the attackers had also planned subsequent strikes against a Jewish temple and a predominantly Black high school. Santiago, who was not physically present at the scene, is being tried as an adult and faces potential life imprisonment without parole.
