North Dakota mother charged with killing two children in Mandan

Kailey Erhart, a 22-year-old mother, faces murder charges following a violent attack on her three children in Mandan, North Dakota. Authorities report that Erhart allegedly stabbed her children on August 6, resulting in the deaths of a 5-month-old infant and a 3-year-old girl. A 1-year-old child survived the attack after undergoing surgery for neck wounds.

Before the incident, Erhart reportedly sent a video to the children's father, Cameron, stating, ‘Say goodbye to your children,’ while holding a weapon. Police stated that Erhart had previously threatened her husband with a firearm during a period of separation. During the confrontation, the father managed to disarm her and disperse the weapon's parts before being forced from the home by Erhart, who was armed with a knife.

Upon arrival, Mandan police found Erhart covered in blood with a kitchen knife held to her own throat. She reportedly asked officers to kill her. Mandan Police Chief Jason Ziegler described the scene as one of the most traumatic encountered by his officers. Erhart faces multiple charges, including two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, and several counts of aggravated assault and domestic violence.
