North Epirus municipality launches subsidized beekeeping training for unemployed
The municipality of North Epirus (Δήμος Βορείων Τζουμέρκων) will implement a subsidized professional training program in beekeeping. The 295‑hour course, combining theoretical and laboratory instruction, will be held at the municipal facilities in Elliniko in partnership with the Lifelong Learning Center of the Development Agency of Epirus (ΔΥΠ Α Ιωαννίνων). It targets 20 unemployed residents aged 18‑60 from the municipality and nearby areas, with applications open from 24 August to 4 September 2026.
Participants who complete the program will receive a professional training certificate, an educational allowance of €5 per hour of training, and full insurance coverage. The initiative aims to develop the local beekeeping sector, complement agriculture, agrotourism and gastronomy, and create new professional opportunities for young people in the mountainous region, which boasts diverse flora and high‑value honey products.
