North India weather: Dry spell and rising temperatures forecast
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a shift in weather patterns for North India, predicting a dry spell starting September 30. Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, and most parts of Uttar Pradesh are expected to experience largely clear skies and dry conditions through the first week of October.
As the recent cloudy conditions and weather systems weaken, daytime temperatures in Delhi are expected to rise. Maximum temperatures in the capital have already seen sharp increases, rising from 28.7°C to 32.4°C in a single day. While daytime warmth is expected, night-time temperatures may gradually fall, providing some relief.
In contrast to the dry northwest, rainfall is expected to continue in other regions. The northeastern states, South India, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh are forecast to receive rain or thunderstorms. Isolated rainfall is also anticipated in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh.
