Senayan City assault: Man named suspect after kicking woman in food court

Police have named a 43-year-old man, identified as RS, as a suspect in an assault that occurred at the Senayan City food court in Central Jakarta on September 13, 2026. The incident, which was captured on CCTV and went viral, involved RS suddenly kicking a woman, identified as TL, from behind while she was queuing for food. The impact caused the victim to fall forward.

Authorities from Polda Metro Jaya have clarified that the motive was not related to theft or pickpocketing, despite rumors circulating on social media. According to Kombes Budi Hermanto, the suspect claimed he felt disturbed because the victim was blocking his position while he was sitting nearby. Investigators also confirmed that the victim and the suspect did not know each other prior to the incident, and there was no evidence of drug or alcohol influence. RS is being charged under Article 466 of the new Criminal Code regarding physical assault.
