Senayan City mall assault investigation

Overview

Following an assault at the Senayan City food court in Central Jakarta on September 13, 2026, police identified a 43-year-old man, RS, as the suspect. CCTV footage showed RS kicking a woman, TL, from behind while she was queuing for food, causing her to fall. Investigators from Polda Metro Jaya clarified that the motive was not theft or drug-related, but rather that the suspect felt “disturbed because the victim was blocking his position.”

By September 21, authorities officially detained RS. He faces charges under Article 466 of the Criminal Code, which carries a potential five-year prison sentence. Habiburokhman, Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, commended the police response and called for a “transparent and professional legal process” to ensure the perpetrator receives no special treatment.
